OK this is a bunch of B S the Mayans which were a BIG tribe of Mexico made this calender that went up to 2012...some conspirators say that that is the end of time..as we know it because that is when they stopped they think all because they stop making a calender they think that is the end of days...so my point is theythey have been making this calender before christ so this is like wat 10,000 B.C.alright... they had 10,000 years....plus another 2012 years

It's a time of Change, Haven't you heard? Both the McCain and Obama campaigns are touting it as the next big thing; "Vote for Change". Don't you think the word "change" has been pounded into the American and world psyche enough for it to become reality? What you put in you get out, it's a matter of focused effort. Like the battle between good and evil... whoever has the most believers on their side wins and gets to choose the outcome positive or negative. Or you could look at the Oprah effect... The Secret, you have control over your destiny but YOU have to DO something to make IT happen.
There are always 2 sides of the coin, choose your side. I choose to believe as a person who was born on 12/21/1973, and will be celebrating my 39th birthday on 12/21/2012, that it will be a time for a rebirth, not the obsolescence of everything.
The history of the earth has proven that change is inevitable and perpetual on a large or small scale. We do not know how big of a change there will be if any. If there is we should focus on putting positive energy forward. The worst that could happen is that we lived well and happy until the end, the best is that we survive and by making our souls happy our world will be better for it for years to come.
If destruction and fear are your motivators for taking action in life then the prediction of 2012 should be interpreted as a motivator for positive change.

I think tha this is a hot topic. It is possible for this to happen with the tectonic plates to shift. In the year 2012 the plantes will align with the center of the galaxy. It is said by science that there is a hugh black hole at the center of the universe. It is possible that this could cause the earth to shift on its axis and cause major problems for us all.

A comet will not actually strike the earth, it will merely pas between the moon and the earth. The emense garvitational pull will create over 100 foot tides which will cover most costal cities and also increase the ocean level by several feet due to melting of glaciers from the severe increase in tides. Since 2/3 of the worlds population lives near a coast line, many will die. In most 1st world contries, the coastal areas will be evacuated and many will be saved. It will however creat much damage (1000x that of Katrina or Andrew) and the current recession will turn into a depression. Is this the end of the world, it depends on how you look at it. For Myan Cultures, it would have been due to their proximity to the coast and no where to run to. The Only thing we can do is wait and see, and hopefully be on a family vacation in the mountains on Dec 21, 2012 (or live in a yellow submarine).

2012?? An interesting topic indeed..here's some theories i came up with and wanted to share..
1. The current Financial crisis could be a sign of the end times, countries announcing shares at an all time low, etc..the last time something like this happened was back in the late 1920's and throughout the 1930's (The Great Depression)..
2. Soon after the Great Depression, World War 2 erupts, the great leader or culprit of World War 2 was Adolf Hitler, famous for the killing of around 6,000,000 Jews...
Nostradamus predicted that Adolf Hitler would be the second Anti-Christ, the first being Napoleon,...
3. The current Finacial crisis happenes around 70 years after the Great Depression..
note: 2008-1938=70
The number 7 is a great number in the Bible
1938 was also the time of the great depression..
If History is set to repeat itself, we could be on the brink of a next World War and we all know what the next World War is...WORLD WAR 3, all we have do now is figure out a great leader for this leader could be the next and final Anti-Christ, Hitler was responsible for the deaths of 6,000,000 Jews,...this next leader could be responsible for the deaths of anywhere between 6-21 million Jews...

Another theory is the Prophecy of the popes..

OK, My 2 cents worth, which is why Blogging began, right!!
1st. People are quoting exact dates for the end of the Long Mayan Calendar, ie "21st December 2012"
My little bit of research has experts still arguing about the date of the begining of the Mayan Calendar with date ranges from 3114 BC to 3374 BC, admitedly most tend to go the 3114 BC route but not definitevly and with several differing dates as well. So my thought: lets get the start exactly right so we can know exactly when it ends Hmmmm.
2nd. Ok bloggers stick with this thought, while the earliest Egyption Hyroglyphics stem from the Early Dynistic Period around 3200 BC (Yes I hear you say, too close to the suggested start of the Mayan Calendar to be a co-incidence). Civilisation did not start at this time, earlier Egyption civilisation existed (by Carbon Dating) to around the 5,500 BC mark including the Badarian, Amratian and Gerzean. Therefore (and here it is) if civilisation existed 2,300 years before the start of the Mayan Calendar, why shouldn't it exist after the end of the Mayan Calendar......
But anyway, Im not an expert, and dont want to interfere with anyones belief system at all, just thought I would post my idea's on the subject. "Personaly I dont think the world is about to end, but hey if it does, I will happily admit I was wrong, and buy you a drink to make up for it".

2012 actually started off with the ending of the Mayan Calendar and from there, prophecy experts related it to other end time prophecies..
The Mayans were said to be a great civilisation that dwelled in South America generations ago, they were also said to be the worlds greatest astronomers, etc..
Mathematics also derived from them..
What troubles me, is that it also coincides with the St. Malachy prophecies (the Prophecy of the popes)..he predicted 1 more pope after Pope Benedict aka 'Glory Of The Olive'...isn't it funny how it coincides, coz (no offense) Pope Benedict is really old and by 2012 we should have reached the 'so called' last pope...

I have faith in the Bible, and what the Bible says. I appreciate that not everyone will be bothered to look up these scriptures, but if you are GENUINELY curious check them out!
1) Psalms Chapter 104, Verse 5 - "He has founded the earth upon its established places. IT WILL NOT BE MADE TO TOTTER to time indefinite, or forever". So, if you have faith in God, then that rules out the earth being destroyed.
But what about Judgement day coming?
2)Matthew Chapter 24, verse 42 - "Keep on the watch, therefore, because YOU DO NOT KNOW ON WHAT DAY Your Lord is coming". So while Judgement day IS assured, the EXACT day of it's arrival is not. So exact dates in 2012 are not consistent with Bible prophecy. Still not convinced? Consider one more scripture - Matthew 24 again, but this time verse 36 - "Concerning that day and hour NOBODY KNOWS, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, BUT ONLY THE FATHER (God/Jehovah)".
Finally, who will live through Judgement day/Armageddon? Check John Chapter 17 and verse 3 - "This means EVERLASTING LIFE, their TAKING IN KNOWLEDGE of you, the ONLY TRUE GOD, and of the one whom you sent forth, JESUS CHRIST".

It clearly says in the Bible that not only does "no man not even the angels know the date nor hour of the end but God the father" but it also says that "prophecies predicted by prophets have never/will never come true but the prophecies of the Bible itself" ...therefore no one knows when the world will end!!

I sincerely believe that there is something that will happen soon that will paralze all of humanity. I can't really say if it will be something man made or utterly just an act of nature. From scientific discoveries we have found remains of life that has existed years and years ago but were wiped away. From those events that had taken place came evolution from whatever survived.... I am a skeptic about aliens, but I do believe there is something out there far more advanced then us. The universe is huge and we are nothing more than a spec of a spec in it. There is a reason for everything and everything has a purpose. What is meant to happen will because we cannot escape the inevitable. Its crazy because we have the right to know the truth and not be subjected to our own ideas which generate false prophecies and what not. Our minds are powerful enough to do far more than what we believe we are capable of, we just lack the ability to use it. All I can say is I love everyone and hope that by the end we all will pulled closer together to be there for one another in such an event. Think for a moment honestly.....in what ways have you prepaired yourself and your family for a situation like this. For the ones who survive...where is a check point....where will all the alternatives be for salvation? People will lose their friggin minds. I think that every state should focus on creating safe havens for us just in case something catastrophic was to happen. I guess its every man for himself....women....babies......we are gonna go back to chipping stones and rubbing sticks......I'm Mr. J. .....thank you for reading

5 years and counting sounds a little far off... let's bring it home. T minus a year and counting... All I can add to the list of crazy things people pass off as Gospel is the following.... When Pope John Paul II sits up on Dec 21, 2012 and starts telling us all about his trip to the after life with the aliens and demands we all buy stock in GM, there's going to be some pretty stunned, amazed and confused "non catholics" running around... The catholics won't be suprised because they believe whatever you tell them any way. And I'm sure they already own GM stock anyway.. :)
