I read that the peak in the Sunspot activity in 2012 will cause a blast of plasma which will affect the magnetic field around the earth, Theory has it that there will be a polar reversal similar to the one 12,000 yr ago. Not only that but this will cause the earth to reverse it's rotation--- obviously causing disasterous affects : volcanos, tsunamis, earthquakes everywhere.
